Our Services

What we do

Roof replacement is the flagship — standing seam metal on lake homes. Repair and storm work back it up, and two winter services keep an eye on your cabin when you're not here.

Replacement — Silver Loon Roofing
Standing seam metal — our specialty

Replacement

Full tear-off, new roof, done in 1–2 days. Standing seam metal is the roof we'd put on our own cabin.

  • Standing seam metal runs 40–60 years and sheds snow on its own
  • Full tear-off with deck inspection — we never roof over soft boards
  • Ice-and-water shield past the eave, sized for ice dam country
Repair — Silver Loon Roofing

Repair

Not every roof needs replacing. We find the actual leak and fix what needs fixing.

  • We trace the leak to its source — not just the drip in the ceiling
  • Flashing, pipe boots, and wind-blown shingles are the usual suspects
  • Same-week scheduling; same-day for active leaks when we can
Storm Damage — Silver Loon Roofing

Storm Damage

Hail or wind hit the lake? We document the damage and handle the claim paperwork.

  • Roof inspection within 1–3 days of the storm
  • Photo documentation that meets insurer standards
  • We're on the roof with your adjuster so nothing gets missed
Ice Dams — Silver Loon Roofing

Ice Dams

Steam removal that won't wreck your shingles — and an attic check so the dam doesn't come back.

  • Steam, not chipping — safe on cold, brittle shingles
  • Most dams cleared in 30–90 minutes
  • Attic insulation and venting checked on every call

Winter Maintenance — Silver Loon Roofing

Winter Maintenance

Up North Roofing, Down-to-Earth Pricing. We shovel the roof, watch the eaves, and send photos.

  • Roof snow removal after big storms — before the weight and the melt cause trouble
  • Winter checks on empty cabins, with photo updates from the field
  • Ice caught at the eave early is a small job, not an April repair

Flagship material

Standing Seam Metal

Snow slides off a standing seam roof before it can build up. No exposed fasteners means no freeze-thaw failure point. On Gull Lake and the Whitefish Chain, a metal roof typically runs 4060 years with basically no maintenance — often one roof for as long as you own the cabin.

Frequently Asked

Questions homeowners ask us first

The six we hear most, answered the same way we'd answer them on the phone. Twenty-five more are on the FAQ page.

How much does a roof replacement cost in Minnesota?

A typical residential roof replacement in north-central Minnesota runs $10,000–$22,000 installed, depending on size, pitch, and material. Asphalt (GAF Timberline HDZ) falls in the $10,000–$14,000 range for an average home. Metal and slate run higher. We provide written estimates before any work starts — see /materials/ for per-square-foot ranges.

Do you charge for estimates?

No. Roof inspections and written estimates are free. We inspect the roof, scope the job, and hand you a written estimate — no obligation. If you decide not to proceed, no charge. Request one at /contact/.

How long does a roof replacement take?

A typical residential asphalt replacement takes 1–2 days from tear-off to final cleanup on a standard-pitch home. Metal and slate take longer — 3–5 days depending on panel runs and flashing complexity. We confirm the schedule at contract signing. See /process/ for the full sequence from estimate to final walkthrough.

Do I have to be home during my roof job?

No. Most of our customers aren't — many are two hours away in the Cities while we work. We photograph the job start to finish and you get every photo: before, during, and after. Your job gets its own page on our site, so you can see what happened on your roof the same day, from anywhere. We handle the permit, the delivery, and the daily cleanup without you needing to be there.

What roofing materials does Silver Loon Roofing install?

We install four metal and composite roofing options — standing seam metal (our most popular upgrade, 40–60 year lifespan), DECRA Shake XD stone-coated steel, Brava Cedar Shake composite, and Pro-Panel II exposed-fastener metal for budget-conscious projects — plus four architectural shingles: CertainTeed Landmark, GAF Timberline HDZ, Owens Corning Duration, and Malarkey Vista. Each has a different cost, lifespan, and maintenance profile. See /materials/ for comparisons, or use /materials/best-roof-shingle-for-your-home/ if you want help narrowing down the shingle options.

Can Silver Loon Roofing waive my deductible?

No, and any contractor who offers to is violating Minnesota law (§325E.66). Deductible waiver is illegal in Minnesota — it constitutes insurance fraud. We cannot absorb, rebate, or inflate our price to cover your deductible. You can finance your deductible separately through our financing program.

For owners who aren't there

Your roof gets its own web page.

Most of our customers are two hours away when we're on their roof. So every job comes with its own page on our site — your name on the link, your whole project on the page. Check it from the office, the cabin, or the boat. No phone tag. No wondering what happened while you were gone.

  • Every photo, as we take it

Before, during, and after — added while the crew is still on your roof.

  • Your estimate and paperwork

The written estimate and every document for the job, in one place.

  • Materials, tracked

What we ordered for your roof, when it was delivered, and when it went on.
