Andover — Storm Damage Remediation

Andover sits along the Rum River corridor in Anoka County, in the kind of terrain — open farmland transitioning to suburban development, few mature tree breaks — that makes it vulnerable when severe lines push through from the northwest. The June derecho that hit Anoka County in 2025 brought 70 mph gusts and ran south through a 40-mile swath before it weakened over the metro. This home on a cul-de-sac off Crosstown Boulevard took a direct hit.

The damage was significant: a 10-foot section of decking exposed at the northeast corner where wind uplift had peeled back shingles and underlayment together, a separate section at the garage addition where the drip edge had bent and the starter course had separated, and hail impact bruising across approximately 60 percent of the field on the south-facing slope. The other slopes had wind damage but no decking exposure.

We were on-site within 24 hours to tarp the exposed sections and document the full damage scope before the rain event that followed on day three. We gave the homeowners a complete written estimate and damage log before they called their insurer. The adjuster came out on day five, had our documentation in hand, and approved the full claim on day six — no supplemental required.

The replacement was a complete tear-off and rebuild: new OSB decking at the two damaged corners, full ice-and-water shield at all eaves, GAF WeatherBlocker synthetic underlayment across the field, GAF Timberline HDZ in charcoal, new drip edge at all eaves, new ridge ventilation. The garage addition had inadequate ridge ventilation relative to its soffit area — we corrected that as part of the job. Four-day install with a five-person crew. Clean site, receipts in hand before the homeowners' insurance file closed.
