Ironton — Storm Damage Remediation

Ironton sits right next to Crosby on the Cuyuna Range, close enough to the old mine pits that most people around here just call the whole area Crosby-Ironton. The July windstorm that hit Crow Wing County last summer wasn't the 2015 supercell people still talk about at Madden's — nothing here matches that one — but it carried straight-line gusts strong enough to do real damage on this street, tucked between mature oak and red pine.

The damage was enough to need a full rebuild: a 10-foot section of decking exposed at the northeast corner where wind uplift peeled back shingles and underlayment together, a second spot at the garage addition where the drip edge had bent and the starter course separated, and hail bruising across roughly 60 percent of the south-facing slope. The other slopes had wind damage but no exposed decking.

We were on-site within 24 hours to tarp the exposed sections and document the full scope before a rain event moved in two days later. The homeowners had our complete written estimate and damage log before they ever called their insurer. The adjuster came out on day five with our documentation already in hand and approved the full claim the next day — no supplemental needed.

The rebuild: new OSB decking at both damaged corners, full ice-and-water shield at every eave, synthetic underlayment across the field, GAF Timberline HDZ in charcoal, new drip edge, new ridge ventilation. The garage addition had too little ridge vent for its soffit area — we corrected that as part of the job. Four-day install, five-person crew. Clean site, paperwork in hand before the insurance file closed.
